Do you know what this car is? (or was?)

  • No Studebakers were hurt or killed during the building of this car

  • This one of kind creation is an all metal fabrication – no fiberglass (except for the 2 side lower rockers)

  • The center nose cone is from a 1950 shoe box Ford, with another cut Ford cone on that to obscure the Ford V8 emblem – all that on an extended fabricated nose

  • The larger rear fins are ’58 Dodge

  • The smaller rear fins are shelf brackets

  • The taillight assemblies are combined from a ’39 Chevy & ’59 Cadillac

  • Rear panel is from a ’54 Pontiac grill

  • The rear lower bumpers are from a split Corvair bumper kit

  • The dashboard is from Mustang fenders

  • The door vents are from a 50’s pickup

  • Rear wheel well arches are from a Nova

  • Those rare VW rims are from Superior Wheels as is the steering wheel

  • The small side mirrors are vintage cowl lights mounted backwards with mirror inserts

  • The steering column is Pontiac

  • The 3rd brake light and rear license plate area are made from tackleboxes

  • Headlights are 2002 VW Beetle

  • The hood ornament is a cut down surfboard fin

  • Rear windows & sunroof windows are lexan

  • The top is chopped 3”

  • Front glass is specialty cut

  • It’s fitted with lambo door kits

  • Gas cap is Triumph motorcycle

  • And the scallop around the gas cap is from a 1950 Packard

  • Front fender wells are a 1965 Chevy Nova

  • Rear fender skirts – handmade (not shown in photos)

  • Front nose was made by cutting pie sections out of original Ghia fenders and rewelding them into a sloping front end

  • Engine lid grill – from ’65 Mustang rear ¼ vents

  • Center rear circular vent (with power antenna mounted in center – very Flash Gordon) is from a 50’s – 60’s kitchen or bathroom vent (recognizable if grew up in Levitown)

  • 1776cc motor

  • The only fiberglass part of the car are the side running boards a la Honda

If these were your guesses congratulations, you too are “one of kind”.

And yes the underneath structure is an Aircooled rear engine Karmann Ghia.
